I would like to start this review by saying that I appreciate rules, they are necessary. I am a compliance manager so I would not have a job without rules. The problem is when someone abuses the power of rule enforcer. We were checking in after a long RV ride, my wife and I both went in where they were quick to point out the leash rule among others. We said we are good with that, don't want dogs running loose amongst people. I went outside with the kids while the wife finished up. We were sitting in a group in the outside seating with my Black Lab in the middle of us with her leash on the ground (I was not holding it). This is the first incident, the Chalk Creek employee (Cowboy) walked right through our group and said I will throw you out of this park if you don't control that dog. I was caught off guard because the dog was just lying there not bothering anyone, she had a leash on (again, I was not holding it). Then a spirited discussion took place about getting our money back and we went on to our RV spot. The RV spot was in a dirt and gravel parking lot, we asked to move to a shaded spot and did so but needed to move again after two nights because that spot was reserved. Inconvenience but no big deal. The field staff were helpful and friendly. On our last day we asked to move our RV out of the spot so we could go to St. Elmo to do some sight seeing. We moved to a parking lot well away from people and fenced from the highway. When we returned to connect the Toad and leave I let my dog out to pee. Remember we are well away from the RV park or any people. That is when "Cowboy" comes running out of the office probably 100 yards away yelling and screaming to get that dog on a leash. This guy needs help, the only reason I am writing this is to let others with dogs know that the office staff is very anti-dog and is watching like a hawk. I will never go to this place again and I hope Cowboy doesn't treat other paying customers the way he treated me and my family. The intent of the rule should be to control your dog which I did. For this campground the intent of the rule is to dominate others, you can go too far with enforcement.

Love this place and so will you. They have showers... A store and lots of other amenities

This is a beautiful campground. Something for everybody from RV park style to a more rustic feel. Super clean park and bathrooms, pet friendly also. Close to the Arkansas river and hiking and 4 wheel drive trails. Hot springs and horseback riding. The people at the campground are so friendly and and helpful. Definitely will be coming back often.

Once again we had a great experience with our 34 footer at this park. The staff was extremely friendly both inside and outside. My coffee maker didn't work in the morning so they open the office for me so that I could have a cup of (free) coffee to start my day! Proximity for the mountain bike race across the road was excellent. We love this park and will be back to it again next year.

Strangers became friends. We formed a new friendship here 7 yrs ago. And the next year they brought 5 new friends. The next year brought another 4. This year we were a strong 34. Then you break this tradition by not even giving us a shot at our 8 spots. Loyalty has no friends here. I was accused of not giving them a good review. Wrong. I gave 5 stars in 2013. They had my email. A notice could have been sent out about the new policy change. It was no shocker that we would be wanting our normal spots since we had been coming here for the past 7 years. Your facilities are ok. The prices are a little higher but we came here because of tradition. But here's to me and here's to you.....good luck in your future endeavors. We won't be back.
